BioSometimes we walk West down the sidewalk near dusk and we forget how strong the setting sun is. We stare into it and when we look away we see deep purple spots edged in yellow floating on the edge of our eyes. Bright malarial streaks on our vision, and we can't see anything else until the sun goes down and the streetlamps hum as they fade on. We become fearless and light up a crumpled cigarette, the only one we have between us. We pass it back and forth, and wave at passers-by, and we watch the smoke curl up through the lights and use too many "and"s to talk about what could happen.
